Spotlight On: Civil Rights Tour

But today, we turn our focus to travel right here in the good ol’ US of A! No passport required and no foreign currency needed. Just pack your bag and your quest for knowledge and join us on the Civil Rights Tour. This is a good trip for those of you that are ready to spread your wings and travel, but are not quite ready to leave the country. Below is an overview of this trip:
Date: September 16 – 22, 2021
Destinations: Atlanta, Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma, and Memphis
Mode of Transportation: Fly from New York to Atlanta and then travel by a private coach bus from Atlanta to Memphis over 6 days with stops along the way.
Number of Travelers: Maximum of 25 travelers on the trip
Trip Highlights:
Tombs of Dr. King and his wife, Coretta Scott King
16th Street Baptist Church – Site of the bombing before Sunday morning services in 1963 that killed 4 little girls.
Rosa Parks Museum – See exhibits and artifacts from the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott.
Legacy Museum – Spotlights the history of lynching during post-Civil War Reconstruction and Jim Crow eras. The museum displays horrific photos of the publicized hangings which often drew crowds of spectators.
Edmund Pettus Bridge – Walk across this bridge, site of the brutal bloody Sunday beatings of civil rights marchers during the first march for voting rights.
National Civil Rights Museum – Located at the original Lorraine Motel, site of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 1968 assassination.
Stax Museum of American Soul Music – What began as a tiny record store in an old movie theater in Memphis, grew to become one of the most important music recording studios in the world.
